Scented Votive Candles Are The Right Choice For Your Room
For quite some time, votive candles were looked down upon. They were reserved for bathrooms and if they were ever burned the scent was overpowering. Votive candles of today are much different from their earlier cousins. The composition of the wax is different, the scents are not so overpowering and they are just as at home on the dining table as in the bath.
In today’s market, you will find discount votive candles that liquefy completely when lit. These are very elegant in clear votive candle cups. When the wax has melted, the flame sits atop the liquid for a beautiful effect.
The effect of the floating flame is especially effective in stemware votive cups. Choose a dark red or light pink and the effect is a flame on wine. This is a perfect effect for a dinner party. Just do not set those scented candles too close to your food or you may be reminded how the sense of smell is related to taste. Instead, try some of the scented votive candles set around the room in the votive stemware cups and use unscented votive candles in the cups at your table or along your buffet line.
One of the advantages of a votive candle is their short burn time. Many people choose to buy a votive as a test candle. If the scent is agreeable when burned, they will then buy an ensemble in the same scent. Many votive candles are self-extinguishing; however, you should never leave any flame unattended. The result could be disastrous.
Candles should be arranged in odd number assortments to be the most pleasing to the eye.
Sometimes a votive or pillar candle will form a ball on the wick while burning. This should be removed after the candle has been extinguished and cooled, otherwise the candle will smoke when relit.
If you are burning candles, you should feel free to mix the fragrances. This is especially effective when using votive cups that are not transparent. You should try fruit scented candles with other fruit scents or spices. Floral scents go well with other floral scents. Vanilla offers a great undertone to almost any other candle. Just as when cooking, vanilla is a great complement to almost anything.
When candles are not burned in a display, they still offer a light scent. When it begins to fade, an old pair of nylons used to polish the candle will renew the scent. The shine will also be restored.
