Choose Well Fireplace Screens For Your Home
Fireplace screens have an important role in the function and maintenance of a hearth. Screens as accessories add charm to the fireplace, while providing comfort. For practical purposes, screens prevent sparks from escaping from the fireplace.
Screens protect the floor and carpet. They effectively keep children and pets from getting too close to the fireplace. Even without fire in the hearth, a screen can be used as a cover, working purely as an accessory to accentuate the decor.
Screens are made of fire-resistant material. Sometimes they are decorated with art to improve their appearance. They are sold in a variety of styles, from traditional to contemporary.
They are available in various colors and finishes of bronze iron, natural iron, antique brass, pewter, copper, and satin black. Decorative fireplace screens can be bought in single or multiple panels. Five-paneled screens are a good fit for fireplaces with large openings.
Screen categories include folding screens, traditional spark and flat guards, and screens fastened to fireplaces like curtains or cabinet mesh. At times they have opening doors convenient for adding wood or to stroke the fire. Firewood holders and other utensils can come with the screen set.
A screen should be adequately sized, if too small, it will block the fireplace opening; if it is too large, it cannot fit. Before you go and buy one, first measure the fireplace opening. Curved screens must be adequately wide to block the opening.
Be aware of the screens height. A screen too short could let ash and sparks to escape from the fireplace and cause damage or injury. If the screen is too tall, it could partly block the mantel shelf, detracting from the look of the whole room.
Screens are not really expensive. You should pick a model that looks best with the rest of the room decor. If you find out that it clashes with the surrounding, you can easily replace for a new one your fireplace screens.
