If reselling than you can go with a less expensive siding. Get a longer lasting siding if you plan on staying for a while.

4. Do you plan on reselling your house in the near future? Find out from your local homeowner’s association if there are any restrictions when adding siding and reselling your home. So this brings up the consideration of whether or not the siding you choose will have a good resale value. Curb appeal is important so you might ask a local real estate agent what they know about it from a sales standpoint.

5. Do you have a certain budget for this particular home project? Are you planning on financing your new siding? Make sure to get the specifics of the terms and conditions of the financing and then if possible get pre-approved before you meet with any siding contractors. This will help with the price negotiations.

6. It’s reasonable to think that energy costs will continue to rise going forward and more than likely will never be where they were a few years ago. If your plans are to stay at this house then you can also plan on saving yourself thousands over the next 10 or more years. People who will buy your home, if your reselling, will take the “R” value of the siding into consideration themselves because of energy efficiency factors.

When looking for a siding company look for a company that has been in business more than 10 years. If they have been for that long they have weathered one or two economic up and down cycles and have a much better chance of being around another 10 or so years.
