Use Color Carefully For A Restful Bedroom
Stress, stress, stress! Everywhere we turn today, there’s some new crisis to deal with. That’s why we love to spend so much time at home in our bedrooms, where we can relax. The trick, however, is to recognize that the colors we use in our bedroom decor have a significant influence on whether our bedroom can truly become a sanctuary.
Nature has a way of soothing you so why not bring those colors into your room? The cool meadows and restful glades can make our inner soul feel nurtured and relaxed.
Neutral tones have come a long way in home decor and are now one of the most common colors to use. Neutral colors can be used in area rugs, curtains, and sheets. Neutral colors are just about being bland they are about being soft; green and brown tones are the most popular.
You need to pay close attention the shade of green you are getting. Some greens like acid green can actually stimulate your mind instead of resting it. So before you buy anything hold the green shade up to your skin and compare. When you look in a mirror you will see the green tone reflected back in the mirror as well as on your skin. You want to have it balance instead of stand out causing you to look like an alien.
The environmental generation is bringing back the classic colors like blue and green. It’s about choosing colors that are restful. For example green is the color of plants and trees. Blue reminds you of water and sky. Blue is also considered a cool color that can cleanse and sooth. It still remains the number one choice of color for the bedroom.
Lavender is another color that pairs well with botanical greens. The combination is predicted to be a leader in decor for girls’ rooms. Lavender and green create a peaceful feeling in the bedroom, especially when layered with lavender-scented bed linen spray and sachets for closets and drawers. Don’t overdo the scents, though; you could become overwhelmed quickly.
For this year the color of choice for a bedroom is pink. This is not a usual color of choice when it comes to making the bedroom feel relaxing but this year it will be.
Pink is a vibrant shade that is gently brushed over yellow undertone. Not the pastel pink that you see in a little girl’s room but the dominant pink. This color has an affect on women and now it has been nominated a color of choice for bedrooms.
If you think that these colors are too much then add some glamour to your room. Cover one wall in silk fabric or add a crystal chandelier. You can even accent the bed, windows, rugs, and more with gold.
In the end, comforting as the color scheme may be, the bedroom should reflect the personality of its inhabitant. Bedrooms are after all the most intimate room in the home, and should be whatever makes you feel most peaceful and happy.
