PostHeaderIcon A Highly Efficient And Effective Cleaning Methodology-Pressure Cleaning

With the advent of technology and so many developments the need to maintain a hygienic lifestyle has become very important. Even with so many cleaning techniques to choose from pressure cleaning stands out as remarkably exceptional method.

Pressure cleaning can be defined as a technique where water or steam are focused on a surface or any material that requires to be cleaned. Water or steam is let out to the surface from a mechanical device known as a pressure cleaner. The high pressure used in this method is responsible for the cleaning action. For cleansing purposes even chemicals can be used along with the water.

Pressure cleaners can be of various types namely petrol, electric diesel, gas and ultra high pressure. A pressure cleaner in its most basic form consists of a motor that drives a water pump, a hose and a trigger gun in its most basic form. Pressure cleaners are mostly electric or gas powered depending on the need. For residential purpose an electric powered unit can be used whereas for industrial applications gas powered units are preferred.

Pressure cleaners are multi-purpose devices that can be used in a multitude of places. From cleaning roofs, driveways, automobiles and graffiti to being used in the aviation industry to help the runways trips maintain friction their uses are many and varied. Places of historic interest that have given away to time can be refurbished and renovated using this technique.

Pressure cleaning can be compartmentalized depending on the magnitude of the water pressure. When using water pressure that is less than 5000 psi (pound per square inch) it is called as low pressure water cleaning, for pressures between 5000-10,000 psi it is known as high pressure water cleaning, pressures between 10,000-25,000 psi it is called as high pressure water jetting and for if the pressure is greater than 25,000 it is called ultra high water pressure jetting. The amount of water that can be dispensed is measured in GPM (Gallons per minute).

The factors that affect pressure cleaning are water flow rate, spray distance, nozzle pressure and spray angle. Depending on the constraints and requirements the above factors are chosen. For example there are different types of nozzles .The most commonly used being the solid jet, rotating flat jet and rotating solid jet .The rotating solid jet type of nozzle is mostly preferred for pressure cleaning as it can cover and clean a wider area more effectively as compared to the rest. The spray angle can also vary from zero degree to forty degrees depending on the requirement.

Cold water is not all that preferred as it can cover only a limited area in a longer duration of time as compared to hot water which is far more effective. In a slightly different way of pressure cleaning, when using steam instead of water, water at very high temperature at about 140-15 degree centigrade is released over the surface to be cleaned, thus resulting in the removal of any contamination present on the surface. The sheer pressure of water is enough to cause severe damage to anyone who experiences its force and as such several precautions have to be taken while dealing with pressure cleaners.

Lot of research is still being done in this field and many features such as nozzle radius and designs are still being reviewed for possible modifications.

Thus, pressure cleaning has become one of the most popular ways to clean materials, the reasons being that it works very efficiently, saves a lot of water as compared to just a garden hose, is very cost-effective and most importantly at a time when preserving the environment is of the utmost importance, t is environment-friendly as it uses less water and chemicals. With all such advantages pressure cleaning is definitely going to witness better and much more improved features in the coming future.
